Hand-Sewn Milanese Buttonhole + A discussion on "Quiet luxury"
Просмотров 7 тыс.Месяц назад
Hello friends! In today's video, I am explaining the intricate Milanese Buttonhole. This is an absolutely beautiful way to finish buttonholes that some may even consider absurd. I have seen all over the internet, the quiet luxury trend of people trying to mimic the effect. However, there are so many components that go into it that people may not realize. A Milanese buttonhole is a perfect examp...

Hello friends! In today’s video, I wanted to explain how I take in the waist on jeans when there is a drastic amount to take in. This means that I distribute the amount that needs to be taken in between the Center back seam and the side seams of the jeans. I hope you enjoy this video. Why do sewists always use inches?? - Downtown Tailoring
Просмотров 3,1 тыс.4 месяца назад
Hello friends! In this video, I wanted to demystify the ruler. Whether you use the metric system (cm) or the imperial system (inch), it's totally fine! The imperial system tends to be used more in the United States for sewing-related affairs. I have known a lot of people that don't understand the imperial system so I wanted to break it down and show you how to use it. I also explained when I us...

    • @DowntownTailoring
      @DowntownTailoring День назад

      You don’t really know. But most of the coat zippers are size 5. Parkas, Canada Goose style, usually are size 8. And bike rain jackets are size 3. In general. Hope this helps

      @DowntownTailoring 4 дня назад

      Hi Madeleine Yes. You can try to use interfacing. And then, in top of that, you can make a stay stitch right beside where you are going to stitch your zipper. Don’t pull the fabric as you sew. Good luck 🤞🤞🤞

    I love your videos. I'm trying to develop this skill and they are basically a free class. Thank you so much. Btw I always use children's washable felt tip pens to mark fabric, it comes right off in the wash and you can color code things if you need to. (Of course this isn't suitable for all fabrics).

    The tailoring process is very interesting. In the video, it appears the jacket was pinned for alterations on the 'outside' so I would love to know how they transferred those pinned markings to the underside of the jacket where the seams would have been sewn.
